West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in signing Stuart Armstrong from Celtic this summer.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers vies with Stuart Armstrong of Celtic during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Ranger at Celtic Park on December 30, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

According to a report from the Daily Record over the weekend, West Brom are amongst the English sides interested in signing Stuart Armstrong from Celtic this summer with the Hoops ready to sanction the midfielder’s exit as he edges towards the final year of his contract at Parkhead.

West Brom are preparing for life in the second tier after their relegation this past season. Given the quality within the squad, it seems highly possible that the Baggies will see several of their players move on and getting the right replacements in is going to be a hugely difficult task for Darren Moore during the coming months.

But if he lands Armstrong, it would perhaps be fair to suggest that he is making a fantastic addition to his options in the middle of the park – even if his form for the Bhoys this past season has been slightly underwhelming.

The 26-year-old was sensational during Brendan Rodgers’ first campaign at the helm, scoring 17 goals in all competitions and helping the Hoops start to make a greater impression in the group-stages of the Champions League.

The Daily Mail reported one year ago that Celtic wanted £10 million for the Scotland international as he attracted attention, but with the Bhoys now reportedly ready to welcome bids, perhaps the Baggies may be able to get Armstrong in for a bargain fee.

And if they can see off the Premier League competition for his signature, then it is difficult to see how West Brom could complete a much better signing during this window ahead of their return to the second tier.
