West Bromwich Albion reportedly wanted to sign Britt Assombalonga during the summer, but he may now be available in January.

West Brom may still be the highest goalscorers in the Championship, but Darren Moore would be forgiven for wanting one or two marquee additions in January to help the Baggies get across the line in the promotion race.
In the summer, The Sun reported that West Brom wanted to sign Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga. The 25-year-old has been one of the most lethal goalscorers in the Championship over the last few years.
A move would not take place during the previous window. And in fairness to the Baggies, it does not appear to have knocked them out of their stride, with Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle both scoring for fun at times this term.
Nevertheless, with the Northern Echo reporting that Boro could be ready to sell their £15 million signing, West Brom would arguably be making a wise move if they decided to rejoin the race.

Assombalonga is Middlesbrough’s top goalscorer with five strikes in the Championship this season. It appears to be a huge roll of the dice to cash in, even if his sale gives Tony Pulis’ transfer kitty a major boost.
Moore’s side are currently four points off the top two in the second tier. But if they added Assombalonga to their ranks in January, it would be difficult to imagine the Baggies not being the side that seizes the initiative in the title race and surges away from all of their promotion rivals ahead of the business end of the campaign.
