Championship duo Middlesbrough and West Bromwich Albion have been linked with the QPR star Luke Freeman.

You could throw a blanket over the teams at the top of the Championship, such is the congested nature at the top of England’s second tier right now.
There are just five points between Norwich City in first and Derby County in sixth with Middlesbrough, Leeds United, West Brom and Sheffield United wedged in between.
So the January transfer window could help to separate the wheat from the chaff, giving some teams a much-needed spurt of acceleration over the second half of the season.
According to London Football News, Middlesbrough are set to reignite their interest in QPR’s assist-king Luke Freeman, having failed to bring him to the Riverside in August. But West Brom were interested too in the former Arsenal youngster, as reported by The Mirror (29 July, page 74), and The Baggies should seriously consider matching any bid Boro make in January.
There are only three points between the two sides right now and West Brom are desperate for an immediate return to the Premier League. Losing out, especially to Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough, would be a massive disappointment.

So with Freeman having admitted that he could be tempted by a promotion-chasing side (London News Online) and with just 18 months left on his contract, whoever wins the race for his signature will do their Premier League ambitions no harm at all.
West Brom are already the top scoring team in the Football League so they’d be even more fearsome with Freeman pulling the strings.
