We have put together an XI with some of West Bromwich Albion’s most capped players of all time.

In honour of international week, we have selected an XI with some of West Bromwich Albion’s most capped players of all time.
Pascal Zuberbuhler fared a lot better on the international scene than he ever did for West Brom. The Swiss stopper played 51 times for his national side, including two European Championships and a World Cup. Impressively, Zuberbuhler was in goal as Switzerland became the first nation not to concede a goal in normal time at the 2006 World Cup.
Gonzalo Jara has almost notched up 100 games for Chile during a ten year international career. In that time, Jara has been utilised at right-back and centre-back for La Roja. His international career reached its pinnacle when he played in every minute of Chile’s Copa America Centenario 2016 winning campaign.
Northern Ireland international Chris Brunt slots in at left-back after collecting over 50 caps for his nation. Brunt missed Northern Ireland’s Euro 2016 campaign through injury, but has been recalled to the squad for the coming friendlies against Azerbaijan and Croatia.

Bostjan Cesar and Diego Lugano are the centre-backs after racking up a remarkable amount of appearances for their countries. Cesar recently featured in Slovenia’s 0-0 draw with England and has played over 90 times since his debut against Switzerland in 2003.
Diego Lugano was just five caps short of reaching a ton when he retired from Uruguay duty. The ex-PSG man captained his national side for eight years, including Uruguay’s tremendous 4th place finish at the 2010 World Cup. His greatest achievement for his country will be captaining his side to victory in the 2011 Copa America.
Zoltan Gera was another player with links to West Brom to feature at Euro 2016. The 37-year-old scored a wonder goal against Portugal, as he helped Hungary into the final 16. Gera is now closing in on 100 international caps.

Kevin Kilbane’s 111 appearances for the Republic of Ireland means he is the most capped Albion player of all time. Kilbane was handed his Ireland debut by Mick McCarthy away to Iceland in a 1997 World Cup qualifier. The midfielder went on to play in the 2002 World Cup before retiring after Ireland’s 2-0 win over Macedonia in 2011.
Darren Fletcher and Junichi Inamoto are the central midfielders for this XI. Fletcher was recently named Scotland captain for their World Cup qualifying campaign. He made his Scotland debut as a 19-year-old for Berti Vogts, and has gone on to notch up over 70 caps.
Inamoto retired from international duty in 2010 after Japan were knocked out of the World Cup by Paraguay on penalties. He made 82 appearances for the Samurai Blue, including their 1-0 Confederations Cup Final defeat to France in 2001.

The unlikely pairing of Georgios Samaras and Nwankwo Kanu are the forwards. Samaras was eligible to represent Australia at international level but opted for Greece. Samaras has scored nine times in 81 outings for his national side.
Kanu scored 13 goals in 87 games for Nigeria. The former Arsenal forward captained the Super Eagles in his final international game against South Korea at the 2010 World Cup.
