Rondon has led The Baggies frontline for most of the season and Morrison has been impressed by his work rate.
West Brom midfielder James Morrison has hailed Salomon Rondon and says the striker has “the full respect of the dressing room” according to The Express and Star.
Rondon moved to the Hawthorns last summer and ended the campaign with a respectable 10 goals in 40 appearances under Tony Pulis, but has netted five goals in his last seven league starts and already has three goals to his name this season.
The Venezuela international has often been used as the sole striker in Pulis’ system and while he has made his name scoring goals in Spain and Russia, Morrison has also taken to Rondon for his work off the ball.
“Five goals in seven is a great return,” Morrison said, via the Express & Star. “It’s not just his goals though, it’s what he brings to the team, he’s up there on his own sometimes and it is hard for him.
“He puts an absolute shift in and he’s got the full respect of the dressing room. He’s our main man. Last season he came in and it’s hard to come from a different country and adapt to a new style.
“Now he’s got a pre-season under his belt he looks a different man, he’s definitely one for the season.”
West Brom currently sit in 10th place after a slow start to the season after just one win in their last five, with some fans unhappy with the slow style of football under Pulis as well as the indifferent results suffered by The Baggies.
With their recent acquisition by Chinese investors, the club could dip into the January transfer window to add to their squad.
Pulis did face some speculation about his future while the takeover was underway, although his job seems to be safe for now.
His side travel to bottom-of-the-table Sunderland this weekend knowing a win would add further pressure on David Moyes and ease some of the discontent in the Midlands.
