Tottenham Hotspur play host to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League at the weekend.
Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily at 10:53 am on January 11th, Gerry Francis, who is on the coaching staff at West Brom, explained how his side hope to contain in-form Spurs on Saturday.
Both sides have enjoyed a successful season so far, with the Baggies currently sitting pretty in eighth spot in the table, whilst Tottenham are in third position, just seven points adrift of league leaders Chelsea.
And Francis spoke to Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily about his side’s clash with his former club on Saturday, highlighting the size of the task ahead of them, and responded to a question asking him how they plan to contain Mauricio Pochettino’s men:
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
“It’s not easy obviously because they have got so many offensive players who can cause you problems. Their width is substantiated by their two full-backs Rose and Walker, and they’ve got Dele Alli who makes dangerous late runs into the box. From our point of view, we have got to be at our best, with concentration levels, although we have done pretty well against Tottenham over the years. But still, we have got to be really on our game, and hope that we can keep a very good Tottenham team quiet.”
West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis
Spurs are buoyant at the moment, after a run of eight wins from their last nine games in all competitions, and will be extremely difficult to stop at White Hart Lane.
But Tony Pulis’ side have become renowned for their stubbornness and difficulty to break down.
And they will need every ounce of that on Saturday, if they are to have any chance at all of leaving London with at least a point to show for their efforts.
