No matter what happens, it seems as if the constant in the West Midlands football scene is that West Bromwich Albion will continue to be the top dogs.
It has been a long time coming, but West Bromwich Albion are currently enjoying their position as the top team in the West Midlands. After years of playing second fiddle to the likes of Aston Villa and Birmingham City, they are now the only team from the region to reside in the Premier League.
But despite the supposed uprising of their local rivals, the Baggies look more calm and composed than ever. Under Tony Pulis they have managed to grind out a series of results this season that indicate their top flight status is in no danger.

They just seem to be much less hectic than their rivals, and that’s definitely a good thing. Whilst Villa celebrated their victories over West Brom endlessly, the Baggies simply went about their business and didn’t focus too heavily on what their neighbours were doing. In the end, it was the Villains that suffered relegation.
It’s that drive and simplicity that continues to keep West Brom at the top. Pulis’ method tend to be a guaranteed winner, and the yo-yo nature of their West Midlands foes does not seem as if it will trouble them in any way.
They have the resources necessary to maintain the core of their squad, and they seem to be morphing into a Stoke type side that have established themselves as Premier League regulars. It’s no irony that Pulis used to manage at the Britannia, either.
Regardless of whether or not Birmingham, Villa or even Wolves get promoted, the Baggies have more than enough ability within their ranks to fend them off both on the pitch and off it.
