West Bromwich Albion attacker Harvey Barnes is making a devastating start to life with the Baggies.

After a campaign which saw him spend half of the season on loan with Barnsley and then make just three substitute appearances for Leicester City, West Brom fans would have probably been forgiven for not paying too much attention to the fact that they signed Harvey Barnes on loan in the summer.

The winger impressed at Oakwell, but it was still something of an intriguing signing from Darren Moore as the Baggies looked to put a team together capable of getting promoted at the first attempt.

But just eight games into the new campaign, it would certainly appear that West Brom may have actually stumbled upon the player that is going to turn into the signing of the season, as Barnes’ form has been sensational.

The 20-year-old regularly emerges as the most dangerous player in West Brom’s side. And given some of the other players within the squad, that is definitely saying something.

Barnes has scored three times in the league, while he has also provided two assists. His performance against Bristol City on Tuesday was simply flawless and it is difficult to pick out a better front three in the second tier right now than Barnes, Jay Rodriguez and Dwight Gayle.

West Brom fans may have serious concerns about the quality of their defence at the moment, but it almost does not matter as they seemingly have the potential to destroy teams at the other end of the pitch.

And when you consider that Barnes will not have cost the Baggies anything – except any potential loan fee – it would be no surprise if most fans reflect at the end of the season that the deal to take the attacker to The Hawthorns was the biggest masterstroke from any club in the Championship.
