Under Slaven Bilic the Baggies have lost just one Championship game this season, against the Whites of Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road – but he actually deemed Fulham the hardest.

West Bromwich Albion defender Darnell Furlong has given his thoughts on the Championship opponent he found hardest to face this season (official West Brom website).

The Baggies have lost just one league game so far in 2019-20, against Leeds United at Elland Road, while also drawing five, against Millwall, Reading, Derby, Fulham and Barnsley.

Furlong was quick to deem the Cottagers the hardest team he’s faced so far this season – indeed they gave Albion a tough game, registering close to 70 percent possession against Slaven Bilic’s side at Craven Cottage and weighing in with 17 shots, six on target (Sky Sports).

When asked about Leeds, the full-back deemed the result “frustrating” as he felt he and his teammates “more than held our own” against the Whites and believed at least a draw would have been the right result.

Furlong told the WBA website, when asked about the best team he’s played against so far this season: “Fulham. I think they have got an excellent group of footballers. They know what they are and how they want to play. I think we’re a bit similar. Leeds? That was a tough one to take. Very frustrating. I felt that we more than held our own that night and not to come away with at least a draw was gutting.

“But there is confidence in the dressing room. I think it comes down to us having a good squad of good players. We’ve just got to try to maintain these levels. But the team is not looking further ahead. We’re just going game by game, I can assure you. We are not looking too far into the future.”

Up next for Albion is Saturday’s meeting with Charlton at The Hawthorns.
