As it stands, West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth appear the most likely destinations for the dazzling Frenchman.
Montpellier’s president says clubs interested in attacking midfielder Morgan Sanson will not have to pay an extortionate fee to get their man, the Birmingham Mail reports, so why have Newcastle United slipped out of contention?
The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in French football and has only added to his burgeoning reputation with a series of dazzling displays for mid-table Montpellier, his seven league assists bettered only by Nice’s Jean Michael Seri.
However, his form does not appear to have earned him a move to one of the continent’s traditional elite with West Brom and Bournemouth pulling clear in the race for his signature, the Birmingham Mail reports.

And the same publication claims president Louis Nicollin will demand between £8 million and £13 million for Sanson in January, a fee that two clubs who shattered their transfer record in the summer should have no trouble paying.
Nicollin also claimed recently that Sanson’s destination would not be a so-called ‘big club’ and, though their fans may disagree, this only enhances speculation that he could be on his way to The Hawthorns in January.
Tony Pulis’ side may have been surprisingly impressive in front of goal this season and the prospective arrival of Santon would surely help Saloman Rondon add to his already impressive tally of seven.
On the flipside, however, Nicollin’s claims appear to have ruled out renewed interest from Newcastle United, one of English football’s most illustrious sides albeit spending the season in the second tier.
talkSPORT reported that the Magpies had scouted Sanson almost two years ago and, on the face of it, now would be the perfect time to make the move.

Newcastle’s startling lack of creativity has been brutally exposed in a difficult run of form that has seen Brighton take top spot and Sanson’s gliding runs and ability to create goals out of very little would make him the perfect addition to a side who have been left frustrated by their inability to sign a new midfielder in January.
The 22-year-old, however, is available, relatively cheap and, most importantly, exactly the player they need.
