West Bromwich Albion have been reportedly linked with both Chris Smalling over Ben Gibson this summer.

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis is keen to add a central defender to his ranks ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

The Baggies have been linked with a move for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The 27-year-old, who is a vastly experienced Premier League defender, has dropped down the pecking order at United, and is reportedly on his way out of Old Trafford.

Moreover, following the arrival of Victor Lindelof, Jose Mourinho has plenty of options in central defence and will be looking to sell Smalling, who would cost around £10m.

However, Smalling is not the only option for West Brom. The Baggies are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough’s prized asset, Ben Gibson, as well.

Boro have already rejected three bids from West Brom, and are demanding a fee around £25 million which could potentially rise to £30 million, as reported by The Birmingham Mail.

West Brom fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to let know they want the club to make a move for Smalling instead of Gibson. Here are some of the tweets:
