A number of West Bromwich Albion fans have taken to Twitter to praise the Baggies Under-23s for their 2-0 win over Scunthorpe United U23s in the Premier League Cup, namely the display of Chris Willock at the Sands Venue Stadium.

The 21-year-old, a summer signing for The Hawthorns on loan from Benfica (official West Brom website), fired the Baggies into a first-half lead before netting with just 20 minutes left to play, giving Albion a winning start to their PLC campaign on the road.

On the half-hour mark, Rekeem Harper and Jamie Soule combined to work the ball through to Willock, who duly smashed a powerful effort into the Scunthorpe net from inside the box for the West Brom opener.

The one-time Arsenal academy star then extended the Baggies’ advantage as he fired in a powerful strike from the edge of the box, and the opposition had no reply, ensuring Albion also claimed a clean sheet.

Here is what some West Brom fans said on social media regarding Willock’s bright performance mid-game and post-match:

Up next for the Baggies U23s is the Premier League 2 meeting with Norwich City U23s at the Colney Training Centre on Friday 18 October (WBA website).
