West Bromwich Albion suffered another defeat to leave their Premier League status hanging by a thread.

West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to slam Jake Livermore after the midfielder put in another disappointing performance as the Baggies slipped closer to relegation out of the Premier League.

Alan Pardew’s men went into the game off the back of a run of five defeats in all competitions that saw them knocked out of the FA Cup and left them seven points off safety in the top flight. And with a report from the Daily Mail suggesting that the Watford game on Saturday was a vital one for Pardew’s chances of keeping his job, the manager would have known that avoiding extending that run of defeats was going to be hugely important.

It looked as if the points may end up being shared as the game reached the final 15 minutes still goalless. However, there was to be a cruel twist – and it came from a former West Brom target.

The Daily Mail reported in January that the Baggies wanted Troy Deeney as the club desperately sought to bolster its attacking options. They would, of course, not manage to pull off a deal, and he would score the goal that now leaves West Brom eight points off safety with just nine games remaining.

A number of players were criticised for their performances in the disappointing defeat. And one of the players who seemed to attract the most criticism was Livermore, who has endured a largely miserable season at The Hawthorns.

The 28-year-old seemed to offer little in the middle of the park and a large portion of West Brom fans were angry that he was only replaced by Sam Field with just three minutes of normal time remaining, and have expressed their hope that he will not start another game this term as he continues to struggle to make an impression.

Here is the best of the reaction…
