West Brom fans have expressed their disappointment on Twitter after watching Salomon Rondon’s performance in the Baggies’ agonising defeat which has left Alan Pardew’s men facing an even greater battle to try and beat the drop in the Premier League.

The Baggies went into the clash at Vicarage Road off the back of a run of five defeats on the spin, and with Pardew coming under an increasing amount of pressure with each game he oversees.

It was a much improved performance from West Brom against the Hornets in comparison with some of their recent displays, but the result was much of the same for the long-suffering supporters.

Troy Deeney scored the game’s only goal to leave the Baggies eight points off safety with just nine games remaining, but the visitors certainly had their chances to take at least a share of the points.

Most of the chances fell to Rondon, but the Venezuelan was unable to add to his disappointing tally of four league goals this season – and it led to plenty of criticism at the end of the game.

Rondon’s work-rate and desire to see Albion do well can rarely be questioned – and that was exemplified by a post-match image which showed the striker heartbroken at the result – but West Brom need quality if they are going to pull off the great escape, and right now, Rondon is not providing it.
