The Baggies ran out 4-0 winners over the Millers at the New York Stadium and the hosts’ attempt at a consolation ended up with added insult to injury.

Fans of West Bromwich Albion and Rotherham United will be at opposite ends of the mood scale following their last Championship game before Christmas.

The Baggies currently sit third in the table and are unbeaten in seven following their 4-0 win at the New York Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Millers are 20th in the standings, just three points from the relegation zone, and are winless in seven.

Newcastle United loanee Dwight Gayle was the hero for Albion, recording a superb hat-trick against the beleaguered hosts, while Harvey Barnes also got on the scoresheet.

As for Rotherham, they failed to even register a consolation when they won a penalty in the 75th minute, only for Ryan Manning to send his 12-yard attempt against the upright.

Just to add (self-inflicted) insult to injury, the stadium DJ jumped the gun just a little by turning on the goal music following the Millers loanee’s spot-kick.

Although it was turned off very quickly, it didn’t go unnoticed and certainly didn’t escape the cameras from the stands:

And on Twitter, some Baggies fans couldn’t help but have a bit of a giggle at the blunder:
