A number of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports from The Telegraph suggesting that the Baggies are one of the Championship sides making a late move to try and land Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle.

Gayle’s future at St James’ Park appears to remain somewhat up in the air, despite The Telegraph reporting that the Magpies are keen to hold onto the 28-year-old this summer.

Gayle spent last season on loan at the Hawthorns, and proved to be a sensational signing as West Brom reached the semi-final of the Championship play-offs. He returned to St James’ Park having scored 24 times in the second tier.

The Telegraph is reporting that the Baggies are trying to work out whether they can afford to sign Gayle for a second time before the transfer window shuts, while both Leeds United and Stoke City also want the striker.

The report notes that West Brom could look to take Gayle on loan with an option to buy, and the forward is interested in returning to the Hawthorns if he is offered the chance.

It is the news that Baggies fans have been desperate to hear, but it has left a number of supporters on social media insisting that they refuse to believe that Gayle could be returning until a deal is complete and he has been unveiled.
