West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in appointing Nigel Pearson as their new manager.
With West Brom heading for the Championship it seems, it looks as if a summer of major transition is on the cards at The Hawthorns with a number of players probably looking likely to leave and potentially a manager heading for the exit.
There appears to be no guarantees that Pardew will be replaced in the summer. The fact that he has not been dismissed yet certainly drops the slightest hint that he can turn his own situation around and perhaps stake a claim to remain in the job next season.
But it does appear that West Brom are considering alternative options if they do decide to make a change, and Pearson is one of those options being considered.
The 54-year-old currently works in Belgium, but has enjoyed some success in England, and, perhaps more importantly, in the Championship, having guided Leicester City to the title two years before they stunned everyone by winning the Premier League under Claudio Ranieri.
Interestingly, The Sun on Sunday’s suggestion that Pearson is on the Baggies’ radar has not gone down well with a number of the club’s long-suffering supporters.
Pearson may have done a very good job with the Foxes and has a reputation for being a disciplinarian, but his management career away from the King Power Stadium has hardly been exceptional.
And that has left some supporters feeling that pursuing Pearson would be a bad idea, while others feel that he could be the ideal appointment given the events of this season…
