Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle could head back to West Bromwich Albion.

Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle made his first appearance of the season against Chelsea last weekend – but it didn’t exactly go to plan.
The Magpies brought on Gayle for the final stages of Saturday’s defeat at Stamford Bridge, but he didn’t even manage to touch the ball as Steve Bruce’s side lost 1-0.
Gayle was allegedly ‘frustrated’ at the final whistle and made that clear to teammate Ciaran Clark, with the Chronicle noting his disappointment at the display.
With Joelinton, Andy Carroll and Yoshinori Muto also at St James’ Park, Gayle’s first-team prospects may not be too great, especially having missed the majority of the season so far.
Now, The Sun claim that Gayle could yet move on, as West Bromwich Albion want to bring him back to The Hawthorns in January.
The Baggies saw Gayle score 23 times on loan with the club last season, but couldn’t bring him back after the club missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

Instead, they signed Charlie Austin and Kenneth Zohore, but neither have really hit the ground running, and Slaven Bilic allegedly sees Gayle as the man to provide goals and get West Brom promoted.
Baggies fans have been taking to Twitter to react to the rumour, suggesting that Gayle – who still has more than 18 months to run on his £40,000-a-week deal at Newcastle – would be the ‘dream’ signing in attack.
Others believe they would walk the league with Gayle back in the side, and think the sooner he signs, the better as he’s the missing piece of the West Brom puzzle this season.
