West Bromwich Albion are reportedly interested in Southampton striker Charlie Austin this summer.

A number of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Sun over the weekend which suggested that the Baggies are one of the teams interested in signing Charlie Austin from Southampton this summer.
Austin is reportedly available this summer and has a host of clubs from the Premier League and Championship interested in signing him from the Saints, who are looking for around £8 million for the 29-year-old.
The Sun reports that West Brom are ready to meet the striker’s asking price, but Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and Fulham are also interested in pursuing a deal.
It is no surprise that Slaven Bilic is reportedly setting his sights on a new goalscorer. Dwight Gayle was outstanding during his loan spell at the Hawthorns, but the club have already confirmed that they cannot afford to bring the Newcastle man back while they remain in the second tier (via BBC Sport).

The news that the club want Austin has attracted a mixed response. The forward’s record in the Championship is very good indeed, and some believe that he could be a brilliant signing as the club look to get promoted at the second time of asking.
However, there are also those who cannot understand how the club cannot find the funds to sign Gayle permanently, but will be able to pay around £8 million for Austin and offer the kind of wages that tempt the former Queens Park Rangers man to drop into the Championship.

Here is what some of the fans make of the reports…
