West Bromwich Albion suffered a disappointing defeat, but the Everton loanee seemed to come in for some praise.

Plenty of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Mason Holgate’s display during their defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday – with the Everton loanee receiving a mixed reaction from the supporters.
The Baggies missed the chance to move to within four points of the Championship’s summit as former boss Tony Pulis left The Hawthorns with the 3-2 victory.
Boro took the lead early on, but West Brom scored either side of the break to lead 2-1. But a brace from Britt Assombalonga meant that Darren Moore’s side continue to boast just one league win in 2019.
Holgate’s performance seemed to divide opinion amongst The Hawthorns faithful on social media.

There were some who felt that the Toffees youngster was disappointing, and it must be noted that Assombalonga’s first goal saw the striker take advantage of the space that Holgate left as he followed a Boro player into the middle of the park.
However, he has also received a lot of praise from other fans. The 22-year-old was making only his fifth appearance for the club following his loan switch from Goodison Park, and some supporters are expecting the youngster to have a big role to play as the club’s promotion push builds momentum.

Here is how some of the West Brom fans reacted to Holgate’s display…
