The Baggies faithful have made their feelings abundantly clear on social media – and the verdict is a positive one.
Friday marked a clear day when it comes to shaping West Brom’s foreseeable future, as chairman Jeremy Peace announced via the club’s official website that he has ended takeover talks with the party he had previously agreed a sale with.
Some believe a takeover may still happen, just not as soon as had previously been discussed, but others accept that the prospective owners simply appear as though they couldn’t front the cash to truly help West Brom.
There has been some outcry of disappointment. But the overarching response, especially on Twitter, appears to be a positive one.
Indeed, fans have reacted strongly in favour of Peace’s decision and are encouraged that he seems to have the best interests of the club at heart. A new takeover can mean great things; in the cases of Manchester City and Chelsea, huge funds and Premier League titles.
In others, however, it can have traumatic consequences – and those cases are far more common. As such, many supporters are delighted and relieved Peace is staying on at West Brom. Although, takeover or not, there remains one clear priority: to finally sign a few more players…
