West Bromwich Albion midfielder James Morrison has told the Daily Record that he would be open to joining Celtic in January, prompting a response from Baggies fans.
Morrison, 30, joined West Brom from Middlesbrough in 2007, and has racked up more than 250 appearances for the club since his transfer.
With 33 goals to his name for West Brom, Morrison has been a regular fixture of the Baggies’ midfield under a host of different managers, and penned a new two-year contract with the club this summer as his deal at The Hawthorns was coming to an end.

However, Morrison has played just four minutes of Premier League action so far this season, and he seemingly attracted interest before last week’s transfer deadline.
The Birmingham Mail reported last week that West Brom rejected a late move from Celtic to sign the Scotland international, with Brendan Rodgers keen to improve his squad at Celtic Park.
Celtic’s move failed, but the player himself appears to have left the door open to a move to Glasgow, telling the Daily Record that he would consider a move in January if he still isn’t playing for West Brom.

“Obviously I am not playing at my club at the moment and there was an enquiry,” said Morrison. “But the club said no. With my position at the minute I would definitely have considered it. But it didn’t happen so I am just looking forward to trying to get back into the team.”
“The last day of the window was the first time I had heard of it. January is a long time away, but I would have to seriously consider my position at the club if I am not playing. I was injured for a bit and I am still not getting games. I will have to look at it,” he added.

Since Morrison’s comments emerged, West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to give their views on his future, with fans seemingly split on whether they want Morrison to stay or go.
Some believe that Morrison is one of West Brom’s most creative players and would be missed if he did leave in January, though others aren’t quite so convinced by him, suggesting that he should be allowed to leave as a result of his advancing years and his recent injury history.
