Everton have loaned out talented young defender Brendan Galloway to fellow Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion, with fans of the Baggies taking to Twitter to have their say on the deal.

The 20-year-old saw plenty of football in Roberto Martinez’s final season, filling in while Leighton Baines was out for a long portions of the season. Galloway featured in 19 first team games for the Toffees, which included 14 of the first 15 league games of last season.

There had been suggestions that he could make a switch to Newcastle United this summer, but with the Baggies struggling to secure a left-back, failing to secure the big money addition of Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp despite chasing the Ghanian international most of the summer, Galloway will remain in the Premier League as he continues his development.

The defender broke through in the same MK Dons side that also boasted Tottenham and England star Dele Alli, making his senior debut at 15 years old, before joining Everton in 2014.

His arrival will somewhat calm fears from West Brom boss Tony Pulis regarding his side’s inability to sign players this summer, with Galloway arguably one of the top young English defenders around.

It is likely all parties will benefit if he manages to secure significant first-team football, with Pulis a notoriously accomplished defensive coach, and Galloway is available for this week’s League Cup game against Northampton Town.
