Leicester assistant Michael Appleton or Brentford’s Dean Smith have been tipped to succeed Alan Pardew as West Brom manager.

Pardew was sacked on Monday (April 2) following the 2-1 Premier League defeat to Burnley at the weekend – the Baggies’ ninth successive defeat in all competitions.

Appleton is a favourite at the Hawthorns having been both a player and coach at the club and managed at Oxford United for three years before becoming number two at Leicester.
Smith, meanwhile, is from the area and has earned many admirers by guiding the Bees into the top half of the Championship for the past few seasons against the odds.

West Brom are ten points from safety after that loss to the Clarets and with only six games remaining it looks like whoever takes over will be tasked with getting them out of the second tier next term.
Here is what the fans think about the prospect of appointing Smith.
And also Appleton.
