West Brom suffered an extra-time FA Cup defeat to Brighton on Wednesday night.

West Bromwich Albion suffered a heartbreaking FA Cup defeat in extra time to Premier League side Brighton, despite taking the lead in normal time – and fans have blasted Tyrone Mears for his performance.
Centre-back Kyle Bartley scored a bizarre goal from a Wes Hoolahan free-kick, but was then completely at fault for Brighton’s equaliser. His heavy touch allowed Florin Andone in, who nutmegged Jonathan Bond to score.
It took the game to extra time, and substitute Glenn Murray took control of the match. First, he tapped in Jurgen Locadia’s cross before Davy Propper played in the target man, who exquisitely finished to win 3-1.
Baggies fans were understandably frustrated on Twitter after the match, with the fourth-round replay a match that they hoped they could win despite being a division below Chris Hughton’s side.

Mears, 35, was at the centre of plenty of blame, as he struggled to have much of an impact all night. Indeed, the former Burnley, West Ham, Atlanta United, Seattle Sounders and Preston defender should have conceded a penalty.
Baggies fans reacted on Twitter after the match to the one-time Jamaica international’s display, and it is fair to say the majority are not best pleased. One fan Tweeted Mears is the “worst player to wear a WBA shirt in a long, long, long time.”
