West Bromwich Albion exposed a big Leeds United mistake in regards to the January transfer window.

It’s been a bad last few days for Leeds United.
West Bromwich Albion scored a last-minute winner on Tuesday night to move a point behind Leeds, who dropped out of the automatic promotion spots in the Championship after rivals Norwich City and Sheffield United romped to big wins last weekend.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side still have a game in hand, but West Brom’s win last night adds a bit more pressure – and the victory exposed the Whites’ error in not signing anybody last month.
Two of the Baggies’ three goals were scored by Jefferson Montero and Jacob Murphy, players who were signed by Albion in January.
Everybody knows that Leeds tried to sign Daniel James and although the botched transfer wasn’t their fault, why weren’t United in for a striker or other attacking players?
Kemar Roofe, a £3 million signing in 2016 [Yorkshire Post], is out for the foreseeable future after suffering a knee ligament injury, and it now leaves a lot of pressure on Patrick Bamford.
Regardless of the James debacle, the Argentine coach needed reinforcements. They could’ve made a big, big difference, as West Brom proved last night.
Leeds can still seal their Premier League return come May, but the road back to the big time might’ve been a bit smoother had they utilised the mid-season window.
