Felipe Caicedo is the highest paid player at La Liga outfit Espanyol – and it appears they are desperate to find a buyer with West Brom reportedly keen.

Hal Robson-Kanu may have caught the eye in an impressive goalscoring performance in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at Manchester City but that will surely not stop West Brom from scouring the continent for attacking reinforcements this summer.
From proven Premier League talents a la Fernando Llorente and Troy Deeney to continental imports like Eder and Lukas Teodorczyk, The Baggies have been linked with a whole host of hitman in recent weeks, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The problem, however, is that most would be rather expensive, testing the ambition of the club’s Chinese owners. West Brom have already missed out on Morgan Schneiderlin, Ignacio Camacho and co for refusing to meet their asking price.
Therefore, you wonder whether this will push West Brom in the direction of Felipe Caicedo. AS reported in January that The Baggies were tracking the strapping Ecuadorian frontman – and it appears that he is certain to depart Espanyol this summer.
Easy answer?
Caicedo is, after all, the highest paid player on the books of the Barcelona-based club. Not that he’s particularly earned his dough this season, scoring just twice in 27 games for Quique Sanches Flores’ team.
According to Sport, Espanyol are desperate to offload Caicedo in the summer and may even consider loaning him out – provided his new club pay the majority of his hefty wages. Therefore, this could play directly into West Brom’s hands.
Caicedo may have struggled for form this season but he did net 17 goals in his two previous campaigns for Espanyol. Plus, he knows the Premier League, having spent two years with Manchester City before the money rolled in and turned them into titans.
Furthermore, the physical and hard-working frontman should fit Pulis’ typically brawns over brains approach. Therefore, he may be a surprisingly astute addition.
