West Bromwich Albion’s first-team coach Ben Garner has claimed that Nacer Chadli’s finishing is outstanding on either foot, and suggested that he put in a good display on his first outing for the Baggies, the Birmingham Mail reports.

The Midlands outfit faced Indian side Delhi Dynamos at the Hawthorns on Saturday, and the game handed the Belgian the chance to make his debut for the club, having completed his £13m move just a couple of days before the end of the transfer window.

And while the 27-year-old did not have a say in the deciding goal – as the Premier League side claimed a 1-0 win – Garner, who was taking charge of the team in Tony Pulis’ absence, was impressed by what he has seen, both during the game and in training.

“Nacer has got unbelievable quality. I’ve worked with him two days this week and his finishing is outstanding off both feet,” he told the Mail.

“I thought he showed glimpses today of what he can do.

“He can receive in wide areas, he’s intelligent and I thought it was a really, really bright debut for him.”

General view before the match

With just four permanent signings arriving at the club this summer, there is perhaps some pressure on Chadli to perform, especially as he was the most expensive arrival.

Having struggled to truly establish himself at former club Tottenham, he may be looking forward to the chance to be the Baggies’ talisman.

And Garner already has little doubt that the Belgian has more than enough ability to take on that role.
