The clubs chairman is regretful over not seeking another striker in the January transfer window

Saido Berahino’s departure to Stoke City in January has left West Bromwich Albion with only two strikers (Salomon Rondon and Hal Robson-Kanu) in their original senior squad.
And chairman John Williams admitted to the Birmingham Mail that though the club would like reinforcements in that department, it would be hard to share out the available football between the existing players at the club and a big money arrival.
Williams told the Birmingham Mail “We would like another striker in the club,” but admits “Did we try really hard to get a striker in January? No.”
Hal Robson-Kanu, who was a key part of Wales’ success in last summer’s Euros, has found it hard to break into the first team consistently, indicating the problem of Tony Pulis’ formation.
Pulis favours having one up top, five in midfield, and four in his defence, it has worked well with The Baggies sitting eighth in the table.
“One of the problems with getting a striker is, look at the situation with Salomon and Hal, if we go out and buy a £20 million striker.”
However, there is no room for anyone at The Hawthorns to be disgruntled over not making a forward addition in January.
The Baggies are easily on track to break their previous record points tally of forty nine, which would cap off a magnificent season for Tony Pulis.
The former Stoke City boss was met with scepticism at the start of the season by parts of the fan base but is now likely to sign a new contract by the start of the 2017/18 campaign.
