The midfielder’s loan spell at West Bromwich Albion has been rather frustrating so far
There was a considerable amount of excitement amongst West Bromwich Albion supporters when the club signed Grzegorz Krychowiak on loan from Paris Saint-Germain late in the summer transfer window, but the move so far hasn’t worked out as expected.
As a collective, West Brom have struggled, as evidenced by the fact that they have gone 14 Premier League games without a victory.
Krychowiak showed some encouraging initial signs following his arrival at the club as he played some slick passes and snapped into tackles with regularity, but the Poland international has found the intensity of the Premier League rather difficult to cope with.
After being dropped by caretaker manager Gary Megson, Krychowiak has been an unused substitute for the first two games of Alan Pardew’s West Brom tenure and now faces a major battle to get back into the side, with Claudio Yacob determined to start regularly alongside Jake Livermore.
Krychowiak certainly hasn’t offered the West Brom defence the requisite protection this season and his displays don’t warrant a place in the team.
With several fixtures coming up it seems likely that the 27-year-old will get a chance at some point but he must seize his opportunity otherwise he will most probably see his loan spell out as a substitute.
At his best Krychowiak can be a useful asset to his side, but the feeling persists that he will require a lot of time to adapt to the Premier League and in their current predicament West Brom, with the threat of relegation looming large, can’t afford to wait.
