West Bromwich Albion tried to sign William Carvalho last summer, and it may not be too great a surprise to see another bid at the end of this season.

Tony Pulis has expressed his surprise at just how big William Carvalho actually is following his recent scouting trip to have a look at the West Brom target, the Daily Mirror reports.

The Mirror reports that the Baggies are long-time admirers of the Portuguese midfielder and made a £20 million bid last summer for the 25-year-old.

And it appears that the Premier League side are considering a fresh move at the end of this season with the Mirror adding that Pulis was in attendance for Carvalho’s current side Sporting Lisbon’s recent clash with Benfica.

And following the game, he provided a hint that the scouting trip had been extremely worthwhile, perhaps paving the way for a fresh move.

“Carvalho is a giant, he is a big lad. You’ve got to believe your own eyes,” he said, as reported by the Mirror.

“You listen to so many people’s opinions and views on things that sometimes you don’t get a clear perspective.

“It’s really nice to watch games yourself.”

The Mirror reports that Carvalho is rated at £25 million, and given that the side’s bid from last summer was not too far adrift of that figure, West Brom fans will surely be imploring the club’s hierarchy to make sure that they do not miss out on the Euro 2016 winner.

The Baggies had to watch January target Morgan Schneiderlin move to a top flight rival despite a serious bid (via BBC Sport), and allowing interest in Carvalho to intensify by taking time over a move would surely be a big mistake.

He has shown that he has the attributes that would suggest that he would be more than capable of succeeding in England, and bringing him to the Hawthorns would be a major statement of intent from the Baggies.
