Rangers defender James Tavernier is attracting interest off the back of his Ibrox displays.

Rangers defender James Tavernier may have signed a new contract with the club in September, but that hasn’t halted speculation about his Ibrox future.
The Gers handed Tavernier a new deal after a strong start to life under Steven Gerrard, and that was seen as the move to secure his future at Ibrox.
However, the Daily Mail reported just weeks later that Brighton and Hove Albion scouted Tavernier in the Europa League ahead of a potential January move, whilst the Daily Record reported just last week that West Brom scouted Tavernier in the Betfred Cup semi-final loss to Aberdeen.
Rangers will be hoping to fend off any interest from West Brom, but there may have been a twist in the case, as the Baggies have made a major announcement.
As confirmed on their official website last week, West Brom have brought in Ian Pearce as their new head of recruitment, and he arrives from Brighton – the other team interested in Tavernier – to lead West Brom’s transfer business.

Pearce was Brighton’s UK scouting manager, meaning there is a strong chance that the former Fulham defender was the man driving the Seagulls’ interest in Tavernier as a result of his scouting missions.
With Pearce now on board at West Brom, a move for Tavernier looks even more likely after Brighton’s interest, and with a right back desperately needed at The Hawthorns, Rangers may have to brace themselves for interest in January.
