West Bromwich Albion have contacted Serie A side Bologna to make a loan bid for ex-Manchester City marksman Rolando Bianchi, Italian reports suggest.
Italian website Tuttomercatoweb is reporting that West Brom have been in contact with Bologna to discuss the future of striker Rolando Bianchi.
The 30-year-old has built a career providing a steady stream of goals for mid-level Italian sides but he has only found the net once this term for Bologna in 12 appearances.
Bergamo native Bianchi earned his reputation as a predator during his time at Reggina between 2005 and 2007 when the Amaranto were top-flight minnows.
Bianchi scored 19 times in 46 outings for Reggina – a total which was more impressive than it sounds as he was playing in a struggling side.
In July 2007, Bianchi was snapped up by Manchester City for £8.8m and he scored on his debut against West Ham.
However, Bianchi didn’t take to life in England and criticised the drinking culture and the diet, asking to return to Italy in order to chase a place in the Italian national side.
He left that January, initially for Lazio on loan and from there to Torino before heading to Bologna.
Sampdoria are also said to be interested in Bianchi and may have the advantage should the striker choose to stay in his homeland.
