The West Bromwich Albion defender has been in good form so far this season.

West Brom assistant manager Graeme Jones spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and shared how playing regular international football has played a key role in Ahmed Hegazi’s recent improvement and evolution as a footballer.
The 27-year-old joined the Baggies from Egyptian side Al Ahly, and although he took his time to settle at the Hawthorns, he has earned high acclaim for his recent performances for Darren Moore’s side.
West Brom have been operating with three central defenders – a system that seems to suit Hegazi perfectly, and Jones, who has been working with the Egyptian day-in, day-out on the training ground shared what he believes has been behind the centre-back’s recent resurgence, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“Ahmed has got better and better every game. He has dropped into a back three and he’s got a greater understanding (of that role). You know that’s coming about because of international football so there can be real benefits. Belgium played against Egypt on June 6 and for him to play against that level of player with Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne all on the pitch has helped him. I’ve got a greater appreciation for it [international football] now, I used to see it as an absolute nuisance.”
Next up for West Brom is a tough looking away trip to St Andrews to take on Birmingham City on Friday night, and Hegazi will have to be at his very best once again, if his side are to return to the Black Country with anything to show for their efforts.
