West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest are both reportedly interested in signing Bakary Sako this summer.

A number of West Brom and Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports emerging from The Sun on Sunday (09/09; page 63) which suggested that the Championship pair are interested in signing Bakary Sako on a free transfer.

Sako is a free agent this summer, with The Sun on Sunday reporting that he snubbed the chance to stay with Crystal Palace at the end of his contract last season.

The Sun on Sunday (09/09; page 63) suggests that the Baggies and Aitor Karanka’s men are battling it out to sign the 30-year-old as they look to strengthen their attacking ranks outside of the transfer window.

It is perhaps a surprise that West Brom want to sign Sako. The Baggies are the top scorers in the Championship – though seven of their 15 strikes came in one game – and they have a frightening cluster of options already.

Forest’s start has been less explosive. They have scored eight times in their opening six games and summer signing Lewis Grabban is yet to open his account since his switch to the City Ground.

The news that Forest want Sako has been met with a mixed reaction. Many are urging the club to get the forward in as quickly as possible, but others clearly feel that it would be a backward step to pursue a deal.

The Baggies fans on social media appear to be a little more united in their view of a potential Sako move. There are some concerns and criticism of the links, but it appears fair to say that either set of supporters would generally be pleased if Sako arrived.
