West Bromwich Albion star Dwight Gayle continued his superb form since arriving on loan from Newcastle United.

With Newcastle fans well aware of what Dwight Gayle is capable of at both Championship and Premier League level, it was always going to take a lot for the striker to make the Magpies fans rue the fact that Rafa Benitez allowed him to join West Brom on loan as part of the deal that saw Salomon Rondon head to St James’ Park.
Gayle was sensational during Newcastle’s most recent year in the Championship, but has never quite been able to replicate that form at England’s top table. So the argument that would meet those who questioned Newcastle’s decision to let him go would generally be that he cannot make the same impact in the top flight.
Nevertheless, after West Brom’s latest win, it is difficult to argue that Benitez made the right decision in letting Gayle leave as part of the deal that allowed Rondon to join Newcastle on loan for £2 million this summer – as reported by the Express and Star.
The Baggies picked up their third win of the season and it was Gayle who inspired the victory, scoring both of their goals against Stoke City.

His second goal was a brilliant finish, but it is his first strike that is grabbing most of the attention after some stunning skill, firstly to get past the defenders and then to glide past Jack Butland with ease before tucking the ball home. It should go down as one of the goals of the season in the second tier.
Unsurprisingly, the majority of West Brom fans are delighted with the deal to sign Gayle. The signs suggest that he may be about to replicate the form that he showed during the Magpies’ promotion-winning campaign, and if that is the case, then Darren Moore’s men will definitely find themselves in the mix to go up.

Meanwhile, some Newcastle supporters are furious with the decision to let Gayle go. Rondon is yet to score in the Premier League since joining the Magpies – he did score an excellent goal in the Carabao Cup in midweek – and it appears that some of the Toon Army are not convinced that the deal has benefited Benitez’s side at all.
