A number of Leeds United fans were left to rue a missed opportunity during the summer following their defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

West Brom fans on Twitter were understandably delighted with Harvey Barnes’ performance during the Baggies’ 4-1 win over Leeds on Saturday – while the Whites supporters were ruing the club’s inability to get the attacking midfielder signed in the summer.
Darren Moore’s side stunned the team that had begun the weekend at the top of the Championship. No team has decimated Leeds quite like West Brom did as four second-half goals ensured that Pablo Hernandez’s late header counted for little for the visitors.
One of the key men in the victory – though all of West Brom’s players unquestionably stepped up – was Barnes. The Leicester loanee bagged the home side’s third goal and seemed to torment Leeds for much of the contest.
Unsurprisingly, there were plenty of Baggies supporters who lauded Barnes’ performance at The Hawthorns. It was a real statement from the league’s highest scorers and the youngster was inspired.

Meanwhile, many Leeds fans feel like the club should be kicking themselves after failing to sign Barnes in the summer. The Express and Star recently reported that the 20-year-old was all set to make a loan move to Elland Road and even picked out his squad number.
Ultimately, he would end up making the move to West Brom. And after his display on Saturday, it is no surprise that plenty of Leeds supporters feel that missing out on the forward could prove costly as the early stages of the promotion race see the teams remain incredibly congested.
