West Brom want Scott Twine from MK Dons but face competition from Premier League duo Norwich City and Burnley for the third-tier’s 2021/22 Player of the Year, as reported by TEAMtalk.
As the Baggies limped to a 0-0 draw with Coventry City – a performance about as lifeless and lacking in inspiration as the most recent instalment of the torturous Transformers franchise – Steve Bruce said what everyone at the Hawthorns was thinking.
Or shouting, for that matter.
West Brom, he says, are crying out for an influx of ‘flair’ in the final third. Someone who can create chances and take them too.
Albion, after all, have scored just 48 goals in 45 Championship games. The promoted pair of Bournemouth and Fulham, in contrast, have found the net 73 and 106 times respectively.
And it’s no coincidence that, since Bruce went public with his desire for new signings, West Brom have been linked with two of the most talented attacking midfielders outside of the Premier League.
Jed Wallace of Millwall and Reading’s John Swift. Both of whom are set to become free-agents in July.
West Brom want Scott Twine but face major competition
Scott Twine is not quite so affordable. According to TEAMtalk, MK Dons value the newly-crowned League One Player of the Year at a cool £3 million. His price-tag has soared since joining from fourth-tier Swindon Town a year ago.
Then again, that’s to be expected when you consider Twine has produced 13 assists and 20 goals – including four last week against Plymouth – in his debut season with the Dons.

“He’s outstanding,” beams MK Dons’ QPR-linked head coach Liam Manning (MK Citizen). “And yet he’s the first to praise the team for what they do for him. But what he does is terrific. He’s so humble.”

TEAMtalk add that, in addition to West Brom, Middlesbrough, Stoke and recently-relegated Norwich are also watching closely. As are a Burnley side who were reportedly keen on Twine last summer too.
A fearsome free-kick taker with a penchant for the spectacular, the one-time Southampton youngster has scored seven set-pieces since the start of 2020/21.
James Ward-Prowse would be proud.
