Wesley Fofana is getting more minutes again after an early setback this season, and one of his Chelsea teammates has caught his eye.

Chelsea look like a stronger side when Fofana is available. However, he has not been on the pitch as much as they would have liked since joining from Leicester City.

The Frenchman was not part of either of Chelsea’s cup runs last season, and he feels like he missed out on something special during that time away.

He is back now and looking forward to the rest of the season, especially with what he has seen from one young player in particular.

Estevao Willian has quickly become the talk of Stamford Bridge, stepping up in Cole Palmer’s absence and showing exactly why so many people are excited about his future.

Enzo Maresca has eased him into the side slowly, and while fans are eager to see more of him, those inside the club already know what he brings. Fofana, for instance, has seen enough to be convinced.

“He can do everything. He can dribble, he can score, he can pass, he can do everything. And he’s very young, but yeah, he’s amazing,” said the Frenchman during an interview with Stadium Astro.

“He has amazing talent and uh, he showed the world yesterday the quality, but he can show more.”

Maresca takes measured approach with Estevao

Maresca is being careful not to rush Estevao into a larger role too quickly. It is a move that makes sense, given the 18-year-old is still adjusting to life in England and top-level European football.

In that context, Fofana revealed that he agrees with Maresca’s approach: “We don’t want to put him under too much pressure because he’s very young.

“He just come from Brazil, and yeah, we need to protect him give him some time and yeah just protect him and help him to improve a lot. This is the job of the team.”

Maresca’s concerns, while understandable, are perhaps outweighed by the fact that Chelsea’s new sensation already looks more than capable of starting every game.

Estevao’s inclusion in Chelsea’s starting XI against Arsenal is non-negotiable. These are precisely the fixtures where a player with star quality can be the decisive factor.
