Islam Slimani has made a positive start to life at Leicester City.
Leicester City skipper Wes Morgan says new signing Islam Slimani is a big asset to the team after he scored his third goal in four games in the Champions League win over Porto, the club’s official website report.
Many questioned Leicester’s signing of Slimani late in the transfer window considering the side worked so well with Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki up front last season.
Ahmed Musa was also brought in to add to the competition in attack, yet Slimani’s arrival has seemingly already been justified with an impressive three goals in his opening four matches.
Talking to the club’s official website, skipper Morgan believes the Algeria international is a big asset to the team and offers much more than just a goal threat in the final third.
“He’s a presence up there and works hard. He can hold the ball up and win balls in the air. He’s very good with his head and that’s shown with the three goals he’s scored so far,” Morgan explained.
“He’s definitely an asset to the team and if he keeps putting in performances like that, everyone will be happy.”
“He works hard and he’s always in your face. He causes defenders trouble and makes them think, so he’s a nightmare to defend against.”
Slimani played a key role in Leicester’s 1-0 win over Porto in midweek, a result which sees them top their Champions League group and in a good position to quality for the latter stages.
The talented forward joined the Foxes from Sporting Lisbon for a club-record fee, and he has made an immediate impact with players such as Vardy and Riyad Mahrez also benefiting from his presence.
Leicester will be hoping he can keep up his good start when the reigning Premier League champions host Southampton this weekend.
