Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris have completely transformed the fortunes of Aston Villa in recent years, and there’s reason to believe that Edens’ ownership of the Midlands club could be about to get even better.
Indeed, the multi-billionaire is clearly a big sports fan, owning Villa as well as NBA franchise the Milwaukee Bucks, and after the Bucks’ NBA Championship win, he may now be hungry to taste success at Villa.
“Winning is such a powerful drug that once you feel it, you keep searching for it,” Ayrton Senna once said.

Senna may have been speaking about the rush of winning as a sportsman, but the reality is that in this day and age, owners, managers, coaches and chairmen are equally as important as any participant.
Edens will have gotten a huge rush from helping guide his Bucks team to their first championship in 50 years, and with numerous sportsmen, including NBA star LeBron James, describing winning as being like a drug, there’s reason to believe that Edens will be desperate the Bucks’ success with Villa, especially with English football being a much more competitive landscape than American basketball.
We’ve already heard reports this summer that Villa are going to go big in the transfer window, and they’ve already spent a club-record transfer fee on Emi Buendia, but after the Bucks’ success in the States, Edens may now put that bit more into his football team in order to get them to that same level.
Edens didn’t become a billionaire by resting on his laurels, this is clearly a very competitive man, and now he’s tasted what success in the sporting landscape feels like, he may want to feel that rush time and time again.
