Sunderland manager David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his squad this month.
Speaking live on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily at 11:22am on January 18th, ex-Sunderland defender Wes Brown highlighted why it will be particularly difficult for his former club to sign players of sufficient quality this month, who will be able to help them in their fight against relegation.
The Black Cats squad has been decimated by injuries of late, and David Moyes has openly admitted that he will be working in the transfer market with one hand tied behind his back.
But it is not only their financial restrictions which has Wes Brown concerned, and he offered his thoughts on Sunderland’s chances of bringing in the players who they need, when speaking to Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily:
Sunderland manager David Moyes
“I think that’s probably the main issue at the moment, they are in a relegation battle, and to get some of the players David Moyes needs, it’s going to take a little bit. And it’s hard to get people in January to come to Sunderland. It was like that the five years I was there, it’s very difficult, and my worst fear for Sunderland at the moment is not get anyone in.”

The one major positive for David Moyes is that his side are just one point adrift of safety at the moment, despite taking just four points from the last 21 available in the Premier League.
But they will have to embark on a more consistent run sooner rather than later, if they are to avoid being cast adrift in the race for survival.
