Tottenham ace Heung-Min Son was linked with an exit from the club this week, with rumours suspiciously emanating from Germany.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-Min Son was subject of surprise transfer speculation this week linking him with an exit from the club.

A report from German channel Sport1 reported that Son was open to leaving Tottenham to progress his career, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal all credited with interest.

Son is a model professional who regularly talks of his love for Spurs, and not the sort of player to initatiate transfer leaks.

The likelihood is that the rumours caught him by surprise as much as supporters.

And perhaps that was the intention.

It is a little suspicious that the source of the speculation came from Germany, less than 24 hours before a crucial World Cup match between Germany and South Korea.

If the plan was to unsettle South Korea’s star man, it backfired spectacularly.

Germany crashed out of the group stages with a 2-0 loss to their previously winless opponents, with Son scoring a killer second goal.
