Gabriel Martinelli has ‘welcomed’ Marquinhos to Arsenal on his Instagram story after the club confirmed his signing on Monday.

The 19-year-old moves to Arsenal from Brazilian side, Sao Paulo, on a ‘long-term contract’, as the club posted on their official website.

The young forward shouldn’t feel too out of place at the Emirates because a number of his fellow countryman are already in the dressing room to try to make him feel at home as much as possible.

Martinelli himself made that move to England from Brazil in 2019, so he will no doubt offer a lot of help to the club’s new South American star.

Nonetheless, this is the message Martinelli posted on his IG story, following the arrival of Marquinhos.

‘Welcome, brother,” said Martinelli. “We are together.”

MARTINELLI PERFECT EXAMPLE FOR MARQUINHOS

When Martinelli first arrived on the Premier League stage, it wasn’t all rosy in the garden for the versatile forward.

He struggled quite a lot during the early stages of Mikel Arteta’s reign, including going through a bad injury period around the time the pandemic hit.

But, with time, patience and having the right people around him, he is now thriving in Arsenal colours and slowly becoming a regular.

And Marquinhos will, more than likely, go through the same process because he will be a long way off the first team yet.

It will be interesting to see if the club decide to loan him back out this summer or allow him to get a feel of English football next season, even if he earns little game time.

Either way, the Gunners have their first new face through the doors for next season, but it’s not what the fans are craving because that proven striker is needed, with Gabriel Jesus’ name being thrown about.
