Nottingham Forest had high hopes for their former defender, who played for Sheffield Wednesday’s Under-23s on Monday.

Frederik Nielsen’s post Nottingham Forest tour is currently stationed at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Danish centre-back left the City Ground earlier this year, and is reported to have trained with both Barnsley and Leicester City as he searched for a new club.
But he finally looks to have found it in the shape of Sheffield Wednesday, with Danish outlet BT claiming this weekend that he is now under contract at Hillsborough.
Though there has been no official confirmation as yet from Wednesday, Nielsen’s presence in the Owls Under-23s’ 1-0 win at Crystal Palace on Monday suggests there could be some truth to the story.

Having loaned Jordan Thorniley to Accrington Stanley last month, Neil Thompson’s side currently have a vacancy at the back, and could have themselves a gem given Gary Brazil’s comments about the 19-year-old in 2015.
Nottingham Forest’s academy boss told the club’s official website after Nielsen signed his first professional deal: “He is a colossal size. He obviously does well in the air, but he’s never had to jump before because he’s so much bigger than everybody else.
“We’re slowing the process down with Freddie, teaching him many of the basic fundamentals of movement, strengthening him up and then putting him back on the park where we believe we’re going to have a lot of success with him.
“He’s very good at developing play from the back. We’ve got to teach him a bit more about his defending and also, because he’s such a big unit, he’s never really had to be that aggressive, which he’s going to have to be in the British game.
“If we can get those attributes into him we’re on to a real winner with this kid. We’re quite excited at being given the opportunity to work with him for the next few years.”
