Gabby Agbonlahor has stated on Twitter that Aston Villa are ‘massive’ after Fabrizio Romano tweeted about their interest in Philippe Coutinho.
Given the reputation the Italian journalist has in the transfer game, it feels like a seal of approval when Romano tweets about transfer news.
Well, after he shared the news that Villa have been in ‘direct contact’ with Coutinho’s agent about a potential loan move, Agbonlahor issued the following response.
If Coutinho does indeed don the colours of Aston Villa this month, then he will reunite with his ex-Liverpool teammate, Steven Gerrard.
There’s no doubt that the Villa boss will play a huge part in Villa potentially securing the talents of the Barcelona star.
Given the Brazil international’s reputation in the game, Villa would be getting a player that walks straight into their XI.
Whilst there has been a lot of talk about the club’s defence this season, they have lacked that bite in the attacking third.
The build-up play from the Midlands side, especially since Gerrard’s arrival, has been very pretty and easy-on-the-eye.
But there isn’t that killer pass or cool-headed decision making in the final third and someone like Coutinho might just provide that.
Plus, for someone like Jacob Ramsey, it would be great to learn off a player of Coutinho’s ilk because he has shown so much promise so far.
