Whisper it, but Thomas Partey to Arsenal just might be back on the agenda.
The Ghana international, valued at £45 million in March, has been linked with a move to the Gunners for about five months, but speculation has gone a little cold throughout the summer.
That being said, there might be a second wave of Partey-to-Arsenal speculation – and this time it has a lot more substance.
That’s because Atletico Madrid are on the brink of signing Marc Roca [Eldesmarque] and interestingly, he plays in the same position – defensive midfield – as the 27-year-old.
There’s every chance that Roca is being signed as Partey’s replacement and with no other club being linked to the latter as much as Arsenal, fans of the Emirates Stadium believe it’s a sign that he finally might be coming.
Here’s how Gunners supporters reacted on Twitter to the Roca rumour:
Mikel Arteta has already signed Willian on a Bosman, Gabriel Magalhaes for £27 million – albeit without an announcement yet – and the addition of Partey would make this a really, really great window.
Lord knows Arteta needs other areas strengthened, especially if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doesn’t sign on the dotted line and leaves, but things are shaping up very nicely and hopefully there is a legitimate link to Roca’s would-be arrival and Partey leaving.
