Well, Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa is known as ‘the crazy one’ and he certainly lived up to that nickname today with comments about Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
Elland Road plays host on Saturday as Bielsa’s side welcome Aston Villa to West Yorkshire.
Aston Villa will be out for revenge after losing the reverse fixture 3-0 to Leeds a little earlier in the campaign.
But the Villans could be handicapped in a big way if injury-doubt Grealish isn’t available to make the trip.
The 25-year-old has scored six and set up 12 Premier League goals this season, making him arguably the best player in Dean Smith’s squad.
Most managers would be secretly relieved if Grealish wasn’t available to face them, but the Leeds boss claimed this afternoon that he wanted the England international to be fit, saying via BBC Sport: “I always prefer that opponents have their best players available because even if that fortifies a team and makes them more scary to face, it’s also a stimulus for us to face such players and to try to neutralise them.”
It’s a peculiar comment but one that isn’t all that surprising by virtue of Bielsa’s penchant for the odd.
Here’s how some Aston Villa fans reacted to the Leeds man’s comments:
