Arsenal fans aren’t too pleased to hear from Mikel Arteta that Edu is ‘dealing with it’ in regards to their January transfer business, as they clearly don’t have faith in their technical director to do the job.
Even though Arsenal are hovering above the relegation zone, it seems as though that the club are going to back him despite having such an abject start to the campaign.
The obvious place to look for some hope is towards the transfer window, which is set to re-open next month and bringing in that creative player to spark the club’s form into life.
After missing out on a playmaker in the summer, Arteta shared his latest comments on Arsenal’s transfer plans to Sky Sports ahead of today’s League Cup game against Manchester City.
“The plan is done,” said Arteta. “What we wanted to do in January, what we wanted to do in the summer
“Sometimes you can do it, sometimes not, depending on a lot of factors.
“Edu is dealing with that at the moment. and I’m focused with all the games, we don’t have much time to expend energy now on that because it’s very clear what we want to do.”
Arsenal’s record transfer deals
- Nicolas Pepe
£72 million
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
£56 million
- Alexandre Lacazette
£52 million
- Thomas Partey
45 million
- Mesut Ozil
£42 million
It’s fair to say that the Arsenal supporters aren’t believers of Edu actually doing the job for the club or getting that player they need.
The North London outfit took until deadline day to sign Thomas Partey and no creative player was signed, so it’s understandable why the fans are a little worried.
Given Arsenal’s position, it’s going to be difficult as it is signing the players they need, so the club needs to attack the January market in a clever and ruthless manner.
But clearly, those supporters at the Emirates Stadium don’t think the members in their boardroom have the qualities to push the ball over the line:
