Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta faced the media after a terrible display by his side against Wolves on Sunday.

The Gunners were woeful and lost their third successive league game at the Emirates. The result means they remain 14th in the league after picking up just 13 points in their opening 10 games; their worst start in almost 40 years.

Things don’t get any easier for Arteta in the league. Arsenal face their fierce rivals Tottenham in the North London derby on Sunday. Spurs are top of the league and flying. They are one of the best teams in the country at the moment and, if the Gunners play like they did against Wolves, they will get battered.

Arsenal fans were hoping that Thomas Partey would return from injury for the derby. The Ghanaian stole the show against Manchester United at Old Trafford and he was one of the biggest reasons why the Gunners won that game.

He would certainly make a massive difference for Arteta’s side against Tottenham, but the Gunners boss has some bad news for Arsenal fans ahead of the big game at the weekend.

Thomas Partey will miss the North London derby

“I don’t think he (Thomas Partey) will be with us in the next few games,” said Arteta, who also confirmed that the former Atletico Madrid man’s injury was worse than the club initially expected (Football London).

That is a huge blow for Arsenal. Their form in the Premier League has been dreadful and going up against the leaders without their most important midfielder could cost them dearly against their archrivals.

Arsenal fans are not confident about getting a result in the derby on Sunday. Many hoped that Partey would come to their rescue, but Arteta’s revelation after the defeat to Wolves has made some supporters fear the worst.

Here is how a few of them reacted on Twitter:
